The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) says the AGROMEQA Expo will promote mechanisation, technology transfer and investment to strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural productivity and agro-export competitiveness.
Chief Emeka Obegolu, President of the ACCI, disclosed this at a news conference on the Agricultural Mechanisation and Export of Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA) Expo 2026 on Tuesday in Abuja.
Obegolu, represented by Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, the First Deputy President of the ACCI, said the expo would be jointly organised by the Agricultural Trade Group and JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied, in collaboration with the ACCI.
He said the initiative was designed to reposition Nigeria’s agricultural sector for greater productivity, value addition, mechanisation and global export competitiveness.
According to him, the expo will provide a platform for promoting agricultural mechanisation and strengthening export-quality production systems.
“The expo will also encourage value addition, facilitate technology transfer and attract sustainable investments across the agribusiness value chain.
“The initiative is aligned with national priorities on food security, economic diversification, job creation, industrial development and export-led growth,” he said.
The ACCI president said the theme of the expo is “Technology and Investment for Agro-Export,” and that it is scheduled for 15 and 16 October.
He added that the theme reflects the need to transform agriculture from largely subsistence production into a modern, technology-driven and export-oriented sector.
He said the expo would feature exhibitions of advanced agricultural technologies, including mechanised equipment, precision farming tools and irrigation systems.
“Other technologies to be showcased include agro-processing innovations, packaging solutions and climate-smart agricultural technologies.
“It will also feature plenary sessions, technical discussions, workshops, business-to-business engagements and investment forums,” he said.
Obegolu said the activities were designed to foster collaboration, mobilise capital, promote technology transfer and facilitate strategic partnerships.
He added that the expo would serve as an investment marketplace connecting producers, agritech developers, farmers, processors and agribusinesses with potential investors.
He said investment opportunities would cover mechanisation, processing, logistics, storage, packaging and export operations.
According to him, a live demonstration arena will enable participants to experience modern farming technologies and equipment in operation.
He said a dedicated agro-processing and packaging platform would highlight opportunities for local value addition and improved competitiveness.
He added that the expo would also feature a Schools’ Agro Exhibition and Competition to stimulate innovation and youth participation in agriculture.
Obegolu urged government agencies, private-sector operators, development partners, financial institutions and farmers’ associations to participate actively in the expo.
“Collaboration, innovation, investment and capital mobilisation remain critical to transforming agriculture and positioning Nigeria as a major agro-export player,” he said.
