Prime College, one of Kano’s leading private educational institutions, is celebrating its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of exceptional service and contribution to the advancement of primary and secondary education in the state.
Established in August 1995, the school has grown from modest beginnings into a symbol of academic excellence, producing generations of students who have gone on to excel in various professional fields across Nigeria and abroad.
According to the school’s management, Prime College has consistently recorded remarkable academic achievements over the years — including a 100 percent pass rate in the IGCSE, WAEC, NECO, JAMB, and the Canadian OSSD diploma examinations. More than 80 percent of these results are distinctions, and in 2023, one of its students emerged as the top performer in English Language nationwide.
“These accomplishments are a testament to our culture of excellence, investment in qualified teachers, and unwavering commitment to student success,” said Kabir S. Hanga, Director of Public Relations at Prime College, in a statement marking the milestone.
Beyond academics, the school has instilled values of respect, integrity, and inclusivity in its students, fostering an environment that encourages honesty, hard work, and honor.
In line with its founding principles, Prime College also runs scholarship programs aimed at supporting children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Hanga noted that this commitment aligns with efforts to address the out-of-school crisis in Kano, where UNICEF estimates that nearly one million children are not enrolled in school — including about 240,766 girls who are out of primary education.
“These challenges are not insurmountable,” Hanga said. “With collaboration between government and private institutions, guided by fair and appropriate policies, we can strengthen educational infrastructure and improve access and quality.”
He commended the Kano State Government for its support toward improving education and expressed Prime College’s readiness to work with all stakeholders to ensure a brighter future for children in the state.
