A collaboration to fast-track digital transformation and job creation in Nigeria’s North Central region, with the launch, by the governments of Niger and Nasarawa States, of NINATECH – the Smart Skills Development Programme.

The initiative aims to train 10,000 beneficiaries in advanced technology skills by 2027, preparing them to thrive in an increasingly digital global economy.

According to the organisers, NINATECH will provide intensive training in four strategic areas:

  1. Cybersecurity – to protect individuals, organisations, and infrastructure from cyber threats.
  2. Digital Forensics – applying investigative tools to analyse and present digital evidence.
  3. Digital Entrepreneurship – empowering participants to start and scale tech-driven businesses.
  4. Data Science – leveraging data for informed decision-making, innovation, and growth.

Hajiya Binta Mamman, who signed the official announcement, said the programme is designed to address critical needs such as job creation, innovation growth, regional competitiveness, and cyber-resilience.

The expected outcomes include a digitally skilled workforce capable of driving economic diversification, increased access to internships and remote jobs, and the growth of start-ups through incubation support.

Registration for the programme is now open, and interested individuals can apply via the official portal: https://nasitdea.na.gov.ng/ninatech
