Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, who represents Kwara North Senatorial District, has promised to continue working to make communities safer and improve the lives of residents through better healthcare.
The senator made this promise on Thursday when he visited the Etsu of Patigi, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Bologi II, to express his condolences after a recent attack that killed several members of the local vigilante group.
Senator Sadiq, along with his aides, also visited the home of the Head of the Vigilante Groups in Patigi to comfort the families of those who died and to show solidarity with the community.
He described the dead vigilantes as “brave heroes who paid the ultimate price to keep their people safe.”
The senator praised the quick and coordinated action of the Kwara State Government under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, working with the Federal Government, which helped bring calm back to the area.
“In rural and semi-urban areas like ours, local vigilantes are the first defence against criminals,” Senator Sadiq said. “We must continue to support them with training, equipment, and encouragement. Our people should not be left at the mercy of bandits or any form of insecurity.”
Earlier, the senator had given financial and medical help to the injured vigilantes and the families of those who died. He assured that he would keep working closely with security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to ensure lasting peace in Kwara North.
Bringing Healthcare to the People
Apart from security, Senator Sadiq is also focusing on improving health services. His media office announced a two-day free medical outreach for vulnerable people in Moro Local Government Area from Thursday, 14th to Friday, 15th August 2025.
The programmed, organized by the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Budo-Egba, in partnership with Gedrite Nigeria Ltd, will take place at:
- Cottage Hospital, Shao
- Model PHC, Jebba
- PHC, Bode Saadu
The outreach will provide free consultations, medicines, and basic health checks. It will also offer treatment for malaria, pneumonia, typhoid, diabetes, hypertension, asthma, skin infections, peptic ulcers, and more.
According to the senator’s office, the programmed supports Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s efforts to improve healthcare in Kwara State. It aims to “give the vulnerable better access to healthcare and restore hope in our communities.”
“Good health should not be a luxury,” Senator Sadiq said. “While we work to keep our communities safe, we must also protect their health. Security and health go hand in hand in building a strong society.”
