Akure, July 28, 2025 — The Adefaka Royal Family, a prominent lineage within the Abibiri Ruling House of Isolo and the Ojijigogu Ruling House of Akure, has officially announced the indefinite cancellation of the planned final burial ceremony for their late patriarch, Alhaji Kasumu Daniel Yesufu Adefaka.

In an audio statement released on the family’s platform on Saturday, July 26, the Chairman and Head of the Royal Family, Prince Babatunde Adefaka, disassociated the family from an invitation card currently in circulation announcing the event.

“To the chagrin of our family, there is an invitation card in circulation—even sent to us through one of our youngest family members—inviting the public to a so-called final burial ceremony of our late father,” he said. “As the natural chairman and head of this family, I officially declare that this event, although using our initially chosen dates, was not authorized by us.”

Prince Adefaka called on all family members to refrain from being used by external actors to divide the family or tarnish the legacy of their late father, who passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

A statement issued by the family’s Media Office and signed by Prince Bashir Adefaka, Secretary and Public Relations Officer of the Royal Family, reaffirmed Prince Babatunde Adefaka as the rightful Chairman and warned that attempts to instigate confusion or disunity would not be tolerated.

“The Adefaka Royal Family is committed to upholding the wishes of our late father and safeguarding the family’s integrity,” the statement read. “We urge all external elements attempting to meddle in our affairs to stay away. Alhaji Kasumu Daniel Yesufu Adefaka has been buried according to Islamic rites, and any further actions regarding his burial are strictly the prerogative of the family.”

The family also revealed that suspicious meetings and plans to destabilize the unity among the late patriarch’s children have been reported to law enforcement agencies for appropriate action.

“We will not turn a blind eye to any form of hooliganism or subversive activity, whether from within or outside the family. Posterity will judge those who seek to harm the unity of our late father’s household under the guise of tribute,” the statement concluded.
