Over 1,400 pregnant women and children across eight local government areas in Sokoto East are set to benefit from a medical and humanitarian aid initiative launched by the Association of Concerned Citizens of Like Minds on Youth Development, in collaboration with Senator Ibrahim Lamido.
The distribution exercise was officially flagged off at Gwadabawa Local Government Area pf the state, where essential medical supplies, children’s kits, and food items were handed out to vulnerable families.
Chairlady of the Association, Madina Garba, stated that the initiative aims to address the pressing health and nutritional needs of pregnant women and children, thanks to the support and partnership of Senator Lamido, who represents Sokoto East Senatorial District.
“About 1,400 people are expected to benefit from this gesture, particularly pregnant women and children across the eight LGAs of Sokoto East,” Garba said.
In addition to the medical support, foodstuffs were also distributed to around 300 widows and needy individuals, as part of a broader effort to ease their economic burdens.
Garba revealed that the association is working toward establishing a permanent office in the region to ensure the continuity of these humanitarian services, with Senator Lamido’s continued backing.
Speaking during the event, the National Secretary of the Association, Ibrahim Riskuwa urged beneficiaries to utilize the support wisely, affirming the organization’s commitment to reaching more vulnerable populations in the coming months.
“We’re calling on those who haven’t yet received aid to be patient—this support will reach their homes,” Riskuwa reassured.
