Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has commended the Commissioner of Science and Technology, Prof. Attahiru Ahmed Sifawa, and the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Ahmed Ala, for their effective supervision of schools across the state.
He gave the commendation while declaring open the second State Executive Council meeting for the year 2025.
The Governor noted that the efforts of the two commissioners had changed the hitherto negative narratives in the state’s schools, as principals and teachers are now more punctual.
“I commend you for the commitment and dedication you are showing, which have started yielding positive results in our efforts to reposition the education sector. Please keep it up.
“Because of your unscheduled visits to schools, teachers now report to work by 7:00 a.m. and stay until the official closing hours,” he added.
Governor Aliyu also urged other members of the State Executive Council to emulate their colleagues in the interest of balanced socio-economic development and prosperity of the state.
He reassured the people of the state of his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering the much-needed dividends of democracy to all nooks and crannies of the state.
According to him, the state government has so far made an impact across all key sectors of development.
He listed them to include: security, healthcare, religious affairs, economy, youth empowerment, education, water supply, environmental sanitation and protection, infrastructural development, as well as agriculture, among others.
The Governor thanked the people of the state for their continued support and fervent prayers, which, he said, have greatly contributed to the tangible successes recorded so far.
He also vowed to sustain the people-oriented projects initiated by his administration for the benefit of the state, stressing the need to safeguard them at all times.
Finally, he thanked members of the council for their continued commitment to achieving his administration’s nine-point Smart Agenda.
