The National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, and Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, ZAMCHEMA, is set to accredit health facilities in the state.
The accreditation is aimed at full commencement of service provision under the state contributory healthcare scheme, basic healthcare provision fund (BHCPF) and other programs to be implemented by the agency.
ASHENWS reports that 147 primary healthcare centres across the 14 local government areas; 23 general hospitals and many registered private health facilities would be inspected by the teams.
The commissioner of health, Yahaya Kanoma, represented by the permanent Secretary of the state ministry of health, Dr Habib Yelwa, received the 30-member NHIS accreditation team from NHIS.
Kanoma commended the team and assured that the state is commitment to support the smooth conduct of the one week exercise, that would support the state government’s effort in the provision of quality health in attaining the Universal Health Coverage, UHC.
The team, led by Dr. Salahudeen assured of NHIS’s full support and commitment to assist ZAMCHEMA and other stakeholders towards “your steady and gentle push to ensure the conduct of the exercise as provided by the guideline.”
The executive secretary of ZAMCHEMA, Dr Yusuf Shinkafi thanked the entire management of NHIS state and national team and assured that state had inaugurated the state health facilities accreditation committee that would work hand-in- hand with national team.
He added that the agency was prepared for the smooth conduct of the exercise, including logistics and security arrangements.
He also thanked the local government areas health teams as well as the local government sole administrators for the support they have been providing in supporting the achievements of the agency.
