The Federal Government has inaugurated a free eye screening programme for all Federal Civil Servants across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in the public service sector.
Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), inaugurating the programme on Thursday in Abuja, emphasised its alignment with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2021-2025), specifically the staff welfare pillar.
Walson-Jack said the initiative, in partnership with Tulsi Chanrai Foundation (TCF), aimed to provide professional eye care, early detection of eye-related conditions, and prompt intervention to prevent long-term complications.
“The programme will commence with the office of the HOCSF and later extend to all ministries and extra-ministerial departments.
“Screening sessions will be held twice a month on Thursdays, with 200 civil servants screened per day.”
The Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate lauded the initiative, highlighting the importance of bringing healthcare services closer to workplaces.
The Chief Executive Office of Tulsi Foundation, Mr Shravan Kasam expressed gratitude for the collaboration, emphasising the organisation’s mission to give back to society.
The programme’s objectives include identifying eye-related conditions at an early stage to prevent long-term complications and provide civil servants with access to professional eye care services.
It also aims to demonstrate the government’s commitment to the well-being of its employees and ensuring that civil servants can work effectively without eye-related health issues.
