ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, widely known as the “Farmer Governor,” has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Chairman of the Niger State Council, of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abu Nmodu, and other officials on their re-election to lead the Union for the next three years.
In a congratulatory message conveyed through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago praised the re-election of Comrade Nmodu and his team, stating that it reflects the exceptional teamwork and collective vision of the executive members. He noted that this unity and shared purpose are essential for the continued growth and development of the Union.
The Governor observed that the NUJ Niger State Council has experienced unprecedented progress and development during the first tenure of Comrade Nmodu’s leadership. He commended the outgoing administration for its achievements and urged the re-elected officials to build on this foundation.

Governor Bago encouraged the Chairman and other officials to intensify their efforts in serving the Union’s members, aiming to consolidate the gains made so far. He also called for deliberate measures to eliminate quackery within the profession, stressing the importance of combating fake news and maintaining the integrity of journalism.
The Governor reminded the NUJ Niger State Council of its critical role in society, emphasizing the need for objective and balanced reportage. He highlighted that journalists are vital stakeholders in his administration’s “New Niger Agenda” and that their work is crucial in shaping public perception and driving development.
Governor Bago reassured the Union of his administration’s unwavering support, expressing his commitment to strengthening the already existing cordial relationship between the state government and the NUJ. He emphasized that this partnership would be further enhanced to achieve more mutually beneficial outcomes for both parties.
