ASHENEWS reports that Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commenced the disbursement of N260 million as part of the second batch of a women empowerment initiative.
This initiative targets beneficiaries across all 44 local government areas of the state, with 5,200 women receiving N50,000 each.
In this monthly empowerment effort, 100 women from each of the 36 local government areas outside the metropolis, and 200 from each of the eight metropolitan local government areas, are selected to benefit.

Governor Yusuf, addressing the beneficiaries at the government house before the disbursement, emphasized that the initiative aims to make them self-reliant and financially independent through support for trade and skill acquisition.
He highlighted his belief that empowering women leads to regenerative investment, which not only boosts the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) but also enhances the rural economy, and business activities, and instils a sense of pride among the beneficiaries.
