I See Tambuwal As Man of Vision – Secondus
Those were exactly the words of Prince Uche Secondus, National Chairman of the PDP when he came Sokoto on Wednesday, as the head of his party’s NWC on a tour of projects carried out by Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal.
Prince Secondus and other leaders of PDP repeated the same remark in different ways through the day long visit, which took them to a number of ongoing and completed works of the Tambuwal administration.
The team visited the ongoing Sokoto State University Teaching Hospital, SOSUTH; Girls Science Academy and Wamakko General Hospital. They were also at the 500 housing units at Gidan Salanke, caught a glimpse of Maituta road dualization work and drove through the Unguwar Rogo double carriage-way project.
The Ultra Modern Diagnostic Center was near completion when Secondus’ team visited the facility. But one of the completed 21 projects, the 1.5 million gallons semi-urban water supply scheme sited at Wamakko, was ready to be commissioned and the PDP Chairman did the honor for Sokoto state.
The high point of Prince Uche Secondus’ day in Sokoto was the ground breaking dualization of Illela Motor Park to Achida Junction Road. The entourage were specially impressed by this road, which Secondus observed was supposed to be a Federal government infrastructure that links the state to Niger Republic. He noted the road’s critical importance to the socioeconomic fortunes of the state and African subregion.
Host Governor Tambuwal earlier described the road as a link through the state’s southern economic zone, which also serves as access to several important institutions along that route. It is indeed, a major artery for the economic advancement of the entire African continent.
The dividends of this all important project are not far in coming. The road is expected to be motorable in nine months, the governor revealed.
Similar sentiments were expressed at other project sites. The shear scale of the State University Teaching Hospital caught the owe of the visitors. Its size and scope of services when completed will make it the medical mecca of this geopolitical zone, the nation and subcontinent.
Another potential medical tourism hub is the ultra modern diagnostic center. The facility, Prince Secondus projected, would go a long way in saving part of the N1.5 billion foreign exchange annually lost by Nigeria to medical treatments abroad.
Speaking on the Wamakko Water Project, one of those completed in local governments of the state, the PDP chairman acknowledged the people-oriented nature of Tambuwal’s projects. This, he said is because water is critical to life and survival of society.
The three Girls Science Academies, one of which the PDP delegation visited in Kasarawa, has similar implications for the state, according to the visitors. They present a rare opportunity for the girl children across the state to acquire the much desired education and skills needed for development in the modern world..
These legacy projects, among several others in progress, confirm for the PDP delegation and indeed, many observers of developments in Sokoto state, that Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is a true visionary leader. His initiatives are not merely for the grandeur and glamour of today but rather for the good of the people and benefit of future generations.
Tambuwal indeed, has vision.
