President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the constitution of the board members of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), two key agencies under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

In the new appointments, Idris Olorunnimbe has been named Chairman of the NCC, while Dr. Aminu Maida retains his position as Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, a role he assumed in October 2023 and was confirmed by the Senate in November of the same year.

Olorunnimbe, who previously served on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) Board and chaired its Stakeholder and Governance Committee, is credited with driving impactful youth employment and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Other members of the NCC board include:

  4. Col. Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd)
  5. Senator Lekan Mustafa
  6. Chris Okorie
  7. Oforitsenere Emiko
  8. Secretary of the Board

For the USPF board, Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, will serve as Chairman, while Olorunnimbe was appointed Vice Chairman. Other members are:

  1. Abraham Oshidami
  2. Rimini Makama
  3. Aliyu Edogi Aliyu – Representative, Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy
  4. Joseph B. Faluyi – Representative, Federal Ministry of Finance

  6. Uzoma Dozie
  7. Peter Bankole
  8. Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon
  9. Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri
  10. USPF Secretary

The USPF was established by the Federal Government to expand universal access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) in rural, unserved, and underserved communities across Nigeria.

The announcement was contained in a statement on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
