The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been ranked among the top three Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government for 2025 by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR).
The NCC’s Head of Public Affairs, Mrs Nnenna Ukoha, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Ukoha said the commission was awarded Best Ranking in Website Performance for 2025.
According to her, the recognition comes barely three weeks after the telecoms regulator was named among the top five best-performing Federal Government agencies for 2025 by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
She described the achievement as a testament to the commission’s consistent investment in technology to ensure efficient service delivery.
Ukoha said the NCC emerged second in the ranking, behind Galaxy Backbone Limited, which took first place, while the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) placed third, out of a total of 235 MDAs assessed.
She explained that the BPSR evaluated MDAs using 14 criteria, including compliance with the .gov.ng domain name, website appearance and aesthetics, content quality, relevance to institutional mandates and government policies, and website structure.
Other criteria, she said, included responsiveness across devices, security, load time, usability and ease of navigation, availability and uptime, functionality, interactivity, accessibility and capacity building.
Ukoha noted that the recognition was announced during the official release of the Federal Government’s 2024/2025 Scorecard Ranking for MDAs’ websites, while the award presentation took place at the BPSR headquarters.
She added that the award is an important index metric of the National e-Government Masterplan for assessing Nigeria’s e-Government status and was conferred in recognition of the NCC’s commitment to maintaining a world-class website that enhances service delivery to citizens.
The NCC’s Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Mr Abraham Oshadami, who received the award on behalf of the commission, expressed appreciation to the BPSR for the recognition.
Oshadami described the award as further motivation for the commission to strengthen its role as a public service institution by leveraging digital platforms, particularly its web presence, to enhance service delivery to stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the BPSR, Mr Dasuki Arabi, commended the top three MDAs for taking proactive steps to maintain world-class websites in line with government policy on effective and efficient service delivery.
Arabi said the 2024/2025 ranking reflected the collective efforts of federal public institutions to promote transparency, accountability and openness in governance, in line with global best practices.
He noted that the annual ranking, introduced about six years ago, had encouraged more public institutions to embrace reforms and align with the policy direction of the current administration.
According to him, the deployment of technological tools for service delivery has become imperative, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic and its disruption of socio-economic systems worldwide.
“As the engine room of governance, the public service must perform its statutory duties by adopting technological innovations and standardized websites to deliver services effectively,” Arabi said.
He added that the exercise forms part of the BPSR’s broader mandate to conduct research on reform implementation and showcase best practices across the public service.
Arabi said the initiative would improve access to government information, facilitate seamless financial transactions, reduce corruption and cyber theft, and enhance access to government services.
He also disclosed that members of the Scorecard Jury, drawn from various inter-ministerial agencies, subjected selected MDAs’ websites to a rigorous evaluation process, with the outcomes undergoing quality assurance to validate the results.
