The Courier and Logistics Management Institute (CLMI) has announced that its 2025 conference will focus on addressing capacity gaps and positioning Africa to tap into the $60 trillion global logistics market.
CLMI Executive Chairman, Prof. Simon Emeje, disclosed this during a news conference on Tuesday in Lagos.
He said the international conference, scheduled for November 26, will assess Nigeria’s readiness to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Emeje explained that the forum will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to examine trends affecting the continent’s logistics ecosystem and the reforms required to strengthen regional and global competitiveness.
“Although Nigeria has long relied on oil revenues, the courier and logistics sector has the potential to contribute significantly to national earnings if fully developed and integrated into regional trade structures,” he said.
He added, “The global logistics value chain continues to expand rapidly, making it necessary for African economies to reassess their roles, build capacity, and attract investment to close existing gaps.”
The CLMI chairman noted that the 2025 conference, themed “Building Entrepreneurship and National Wealth through Trade Logistics,” will run alongside the institute’s annual investiture ceremony.
Discussions at the conference will cover entrepreneurship, investment, skills development, cross-border trade opportunities, and strategies for building sustainable logistics infrastructure across the continent.
Emeje said the outcome of the conference is expected to guide ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria and Africa for greater participation in the global logistics and transport economy.
The event will be chaired by Sen. Aliyu Ikra Bilbis, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Communications, while Sen. Adedayo Clement Adeyeye, Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), will deliver the keynote address.
Industry figures expected at the conference include Capt. Giorgio Enrico Del Celo, CEO of Primenext Logistics; Dr. Sola Obabori, Executive Director of Corporate Services at NAHCO; Dr. Sonny Allison, Founder of RedStar Plc; and Dr. Ebere Njoku, Director-General of the Nigeria-British Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
