The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has pledged stronger advocacy for women’s rights as stakeholders launched the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership Nigeria (RWVL) project in Abuja.

NAWOJ President, Aishatu Ibrahim, said the association will mobilize journalists to amplify women’s voices, spotlight their struggles and achievements, and ensure accountability in the project’s implementation.

The five-year initiative, led by ActionAid Nigeria with 15 million Canadian dollars funding from Global Affairs Canada, will support over 108 women’s rights organizations nationwide.

ActionAid Nigeria’s Deputy Country Director, Suwaiba Dankabo, said the RWVL project will tackle the persistent underrepresentation of women in leadership, while a representative of the Canadian High Commissioner reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to promoting women’s rights and security across Africa.
