Ms Rukayat Moisemhe Abu, a correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has won the 2025 Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Media Personality Award.

The President of MAN, Francis Meshioye, announced the award on Wednesday in Lagos during the 10th edition of the MAN Media Personality of the Year Award Ceremony and 2026 Presidential Luncheon.

Meshioye lauded Abu for her in-depth and meticulous reportage throughout 2025, describing her work as a reflection of dedication, professionalism, and a strong understanding of Nigeria’s industrial landscape.

He said Abu emerged winner in the online media category, giving NAN pride of place.

According to him, the MAN Media Award initiative was conceived a decade ago to strengthen collaboration between the media and the association, while also providing a platform to celebrate impactful journalism.

Meshioye described the media as a critical driver in achieving manufacturers’ goals, noting that it amplifies advocacy, interrogates policies, challenges assumptions, and gives visibility to the realities of Nigerian manufacturers.

“Through your reportage, our positions on industrial policy, manufacturing competitiveness, energy security, local content development, and the macroeconomic environment have remained firmly on the national agenda.

“When we speak of patronage of Made-in-Nigeria products, your pen has greatly contributed to transforming that slogan into a national imperative.

“When we advocate against stifling policies, it is your platforms that have accelerated government responsiveness. For this, we remain deeply grateful,” he said.

Also speaking, Ms Nkechinyere Mba, General Manager, Corporate Services Division of MAN, urged journalists not to relent in their professional efforts as the association rolls out its 2026 activities.

Mba said the MAN Media Award had enabled the Corporate Services Division to evaluate the quality of media reportage and recognise journalists who demonstrated outstanding performance.

She commended the media for its significant role in projecting MAN and manufacturing activities to the public.

In the online media category, Mr Tony Nwakaegho of Gentech News emerged as first runner-up.

In the print newspaper category, Mr Yinka Kolawole of Vanguard emerged the winner, while Mr Arinze Nwafor of The Punch was the first runner-up.

In the television category, Ms Ini John-Mekwa of Channels Television won, with Mr Abiola Ismail of MITV as first runner-up.

In the radio category, Mrs Ebere Obike-Franklin of Radio Nigeria emerged the winner, while Mrs Sherifat Ajoke of Bond FM 92.9 was first runner-up.

In the photojournalism category, Mr Temitope Aina of Daily Sun won, while Mr Akeem Salau of Vanguard was first runner-up.
