Listeners of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) have called on the Federal Government to prioritize the sustainability of the radio station in Kaduna State.
Speaking to journalists in Kaduna on Saturday, a cross-section of FRCN listeners expressed disappointment over the frequent power disconnections by the Kaduna Electric Distribution Company.
One listener, Musa Mohammed Kawo, emphasized that the radio station has significantly contributed to the unity and religious harmony of the country.
He noted that the lack of electricity supply would hinder the station’s ability to enlighten and educate citizens on government policies and programs.
Another listener, Abdullahi Zaria, commended the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, but stressed that much more needs to be done to address the problem.
Similarly, Bello Soba expressed his surprise at finding the station off-air due to power disconnections by KEDCO. He called on the relevant authorities to take decisive action against this recurring issue.
ASHENEWS gathered that this is the fifth time the station has been disconnected over its inability to pay its electricity bill in the past year.
