Wike, Ortom, Ikpeazu, Makinde absent as PDP flags off 2023 campaign in Akwa Ibom

The governors of Rivers, Nyesom Wike; Abia, Okezie Ikpeazu; Oyo, Seyi Makinde and Benue, Samuel Ortom are absent as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flags off its presidential campaign for the 2023 general elections in Akwa Ibom state.

The event, which is taking place at the Nest of Champions Stadium in Uyo, has dignitaries in the South-South states, including the party’s presidential candidate and former Vice President, Akitu Abubakar; his running mate and Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa and Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Others are Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed; Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri; former Minister of Transport, Yusuf Suleiman; former lawmaker representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye among other top party officials.

Taking to his Twitter handle @atiku, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku shared some images indicating that he arrived in Uyo Sunday night.

According to timetable and schedule of activities rolled out by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), campaigns for the 2023 general election officially commenced on 28 September.
