The All Democratic Congress (ADC) and eight other registered political parties have collected access codes from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enable them upload the particulars of their presidential and National Assembly candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed the development in Abuja, saying the parties had secured the digital codes required to access the commission’s online nomination portal.

Affected political parties

According to him, the parties that have obtained the access codes are the Accord Party (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Haruna explained that it is the responsibility of each political party to collect its access code from the commission, stressing that INEC will not deliver the codes to party secretariats. He added that only authorised representatives with letters from their party leadership would be allowed to collect the codes.

He also urged political parties to avoid waiting until the deadline before uploading candidates’ particulars, noting that party officials had already been trained on the use of the nomination portal and the procedures for submitting forms electronically.

The INEC commissioner warned that although the commission has extended the portal’s closing time to midnight on the deadline day to accommodate parties, it would not be responsible for any delays caused by last-minute submissions.

Under the electoral timetable, political parties have from June 27 to July 11, 2026, to submit nomination forms for presidential and National Assembly candidates through the commission’s online portal. Submission of nomination forms for governorship and State House of Assembly candidates is scheduled to take place between July 18 and August 8, 2026.
