ASHENEWS reports that the Governor-elect in Niger State, Umar Mohammed Bago on Thursday inaugurated a 62-man transition committee.
The committee is headed by a former Director-General of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), Sulaiman Ndanusa.
Speaking during the inauguration in Minna, Bago said that the committee will interface with officials of the current government to understand the position of the state financially and economically.
He urged the members to remain committed to the assignment at hand and maintain a deep sense of responsibility, in the interest of the people.
“We have promised Nigerlites to be accountable, and responsible, to protect them and our resources, irrespective of tribe, religion, or race, and to achieve this, we are expected to be professional, diligent, and firm. We need the understanding of all and sundry.
“As such, you are expected to bring your best to ensure you succeeded in the assignments given to you. I urge you all to put in your best, synergize and ensure the success of your assignments.
”This task is a major outing of the in-coming administration and we cannot afford to disappoint the people, who are anxiously looking forward to what we have to offer for the improvement of their lives, “he said.
He said that the members were selected because of their wealth of experience, capacity, and record of achievements over the years.
He urged them to not allow sentiments to cloud their sense of judgment and contributions during the exercise.
Responding, the chairman of the committee, Dr. Suleiman Ndanusa, promised to work hard to ensure a smooth transition.
