ASHENEWS reports that a a former senator for the Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye, emerged winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Kogi state.
He emerged through a direct mode primary election, which took place in Lokoja on Sunday.
Melaye polled 313 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Idoko Ilonah, who got 124 votes.
The chairman of the PDP Primary Election Committee, Ahmed Makarfi, announced the results.
According to him. other contestants, Mohammed Kabiru scored 121 vote; Abayomi Awoniyi-Sunday scored 77; Wada Musa polled 56; Ojaja Gideon-Enama, five, and Olufemi Olarewaju two votes
Makarfi also said that the election recorded six void votes.

I thank the state party leaders and members for their cooperation and support toward a peaceful primary election,” he said.
