ASHENEWS reports that the Nigeria Police Force has deployed 6,055 personnel for Saturday’s elections in the Niger State.
The AIG Elections, Niger State, AIG Isaac Akinmoyede, stated this during a press briefing on Thursday in Minna.
Akinmoyede, who is presently the AIG Zone9 Umuahia said that the personnel would be working alongside 3,358 other security personnel during the exercise.
Akinmoyede, who said that the mandate of the police was to ensure free and credible Elections, tasked personnel to ensure the protection of all staff deployed for the exercise.
Acknowledging the present insecurity in some parts of the state, Akinmoyede said that the force was ready to ensure that peace is maintained during the exercise.
According to him, the forthcoming election is very important to Nigerians and the government, hence the need for police personnel to remain non-partisan and ensure a hitch-free exercise.
He directed that all electoral cases be transferred to SCID for investigation, while INEC will be partnered for prosecution.
