#Nigeriadecides: ASHENEWS reports that a Nigerian journalist, Dayo Aietan was attacked by hoodlums while covering the ongoing elections in Gwagwalada, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Aietan, who took to his Twitter handle to narrate his ordeal said that the incident occurred while he was trying to get a video of hoodlums attempting to disrupt the election process.
According to Aietan, who reports for the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), “there was a disturbance and a guy was trying to upturn the canopy on top of INEC officials. I was recording the scene when a guy told me to stop recording. I did. In seconds, I was surrounded by hordes of people. Miscreant, thugs, etc.
“I was beaten, my clothes turn, and my phone, car key, purse, and a pouch containing my debit cards, Nigeria and US driver’s licenses, and other items. They took everything on me. But I fought to keep my camera.
Although he escaped unhurt, Aietan said that he lost some valuables including his debit cards, voter’s card, driver’s license, and purse.
