ASHENEWS reports that the National Vice Chairman (Northwest) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman has called for the replacement of the National Chairman, and Secretary of the party, Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore, respectively.
This online platform further reports that Lukman, in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, said an emergency national convention should be summoned to determine a new national leadership of the party.
Reason
According to him, with the current development where the president-elect, the vice president-elect, and the national chairman are all Muslims, it would only be fair if the emergency convention produces a Christian as new chairman of the party.
Lukman explained that the Christian National Chairman could still come in from the same North-Central zone.
He said that Adamu had done an excellent job to manage a successful campaign that won the 2023 election, adding that there should be no difficulty in convincing Adamu to create an opportunity for the emergence of a Christian as new national chairman of APC.
“For that to happen, it may require an Emergency National Convention because if the hierarchy of the current leadership is to be followed, the successor to Sen. Adamu will be Sen. Abubakar Kyari who is a Muslim from the Northeast,” Lukman stated.
Regarding Omisore, Lukman pointed out that the national secretary has become a source of stronger dispute in Osun state, and become a divisive factor responsible for the loss of the APC in the 2022 governorship election.
