The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Western Zone, has suspended its strike following agreements reached with the Dangote Group and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
The suspension, effective September 9, was announced in a statement issued by the Western Zone Chairman of IPMAN, Chief Oyewọle Akanni, and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday.
Akanni explained that the decision came after productive discussions that addressed concerns raised by NUPENG over alleged anti-labour and monopolistic practices by the Dangote Group.
“Following constructive engagements and compliance by the Dangote Group with the issues agitated by NUPENG, we have decided to call off the strike action effective today, September 9. This decision comes after careful consideration and assurances addressing concerns regarding anti-labour and monopolistic practices,” Akanni stated.
He commended IPMAN members for their unity and solidarity during the industrial action, stressing that their collective stance was crucial in advocating for fairness and competition in the downstream oil sector.
Akanni further urged marketers to resume their daily operations without delay.
