Former President Goodluck Jonathan has disowned a trending Instagram account operating under the handle @goodluck_ebelejonathan, describing it as fake and an impersonation.

In a statement issued on Friday, Jonathan’s media aide, Mr Ikechukwu Eze, said the former president neither owns nor operates any personal account on the Instagram platform.

Eze explained that the deceptive account frequently changes its identity, at times presenting itself as a fan page while largely impersonating the former president to mislead unsuspecting members of the public.

“May the public take note that the account sometimes presents itself as a fan page and, most of the time, impersonates the former president.

“The username has been changed 13 times and counting, and we hope that Meta will do the needful in due course,” he said.
