Wife of the Anambra Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has urged women to take breast cancer screening seriously, emphasising that early detection can make the difference between life and death for many patients.
Soludo made the call in a message on Monday to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, urging women to spread awareness and pay closer attention to their health and wellbeing nationwide.
She said breast cancer was not a death sentence when detected early, noting that regular self-examination, timely medical screening and prompt attention to unusual changes could save many lives.
“We must break the silence, encourage one another and make early detection a priority. Let us choose awareness, hope and action,” she said, while urging collective responsibility nationwide.
Soludo also urged women to support those battling the disease, assuring them that they were not alone and deserved compassion, encouragement, understanding and access to appropriate care services.
“To every woman fighting breast cancer, you are not alone. Your courage inspires us and your life matters,” she said, reaffirming solidarity with patients and survivors across communities.
It was reported that Breast Cancer Awareness Month runs from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, promoting regular breast self-examinations and routine medical check-ups among women.
