ASHENEWS reports that the Sokoto state government, has procured a new gerenating set for the Specialist Hospital, to boost its healthcare services.

This online platform recalls that the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu paid an unscheduled night visit to the hospital on the 19th of June this year,

The Chief of Staff, Government House, Aminu Haliru Dikko, while presenting the keys of the generator to the Chief Medical Director, Dr Bello Umar Tambuwal said the gesture was aimed at rescuing the hospital from the terrible condition it is in.

“If you recall, the governor was here during an unscheduled visit and he was deeply touched by what the despicable situation he met the hospital.

“The hospital was in total darkness, as such he promised to do the needful and thank God, he has fulfilled the promise,” he said.

According to Dikko, the provision of the generator was one of the many plans and glad tidings the governor has for the hospital, while restating the present administration’s determination to revamp the health sector of the state.

“Already, the governor has directed the restoration of the monthly allocation to the hospital as part of the measures to ensure the proper upkeep of the health facility,” he added.

The CoS further called on the hospital authority to ensure the proper routine maintenance of the new generator.

Responding, the Chief Medical Director commended the governor for coming to the aid of the hospital, which he said had remained without electricity for nine months.

Dr. Tambuwal assured the governor that the new generator will be properly taken care of for the benefit of the entire hospital community.

“We also thank the governor for the restoration of our monthly cash allocation,” he added.

The CMD, therefore, called on the members of staff of the hospital to redouble their efforts so as to meet the health needs of the people of the state.
