Authorities of the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo has dispelled news report that there was fire outbreak at the Accident and Emergency ward of the hospital on Thursday.
The hospital declared that there was no such incident in the hospital and the Accident and Emergency ward in particular.
A statement issued by the Head of Department of Corporate Affairs of the hospital, Christie Oyewole alleged that Osun Defender, an Osun State based newspaper that carried the false news on its online platform goofed.
The statement reads “the Newsflash by Osundefender.com published on November 30, 2023 was a misinformation and an incorrect story.”
“There was no fire outbreak at the Accident and Emergency unit of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
“There was actually an electrical power surge at the switch box of the Accident and Emergency department of the hospital on Thursday morning and it was immediately rectified by the Works and Maintenance department of the hospital.
“The incident did not result in fire outbreak as reported by the Osun Defender and no patient or staff was affected in any way.
“We implore the press, especially Osun Defender, to always get t its facts before publishing.
The officer in charge of the hospital’s electrical devices, Engr Lanre Oladunjoye also corroborated the position of the HOD, corporate Affairs, stressing that no patient or staff scamper for safety as there was no fire outbreak in the hospital.
