Turkey has been ranked as the country with the highest average number of sexual partners, according to a global survey that analyzed sexual behavior across 85 nations.
The study, compiled from sources including the Durex Global Sex Survey, The Kinsey Institute, and national lifestyle surveys, found that Turkish men and women report an average of 14.5 sexual partners in their lifetime.
Following closely behind are Australia and New Zealand, each with an average of 13.3 partners, while Iceland (13.0) and South Africa (12.5) round out the top five. France, Canada, and the United Kingdom also rank high, with averages ranging from 12.4 to 11.8 partners.

Several European nations feature prominently in the top 20, including Italy (11.5), Norway (11.3), Denmark (11.2), Spain (10.9), and Sweden (10.2). The United States places 17th with 9.7 partners, trailing behind Belgium, Finland, and the Netherlands.
Asian and Middle Eastern nations have the lowest averages
At the other end of the spectrum, Eritrea ranks lowest, with an average of just 1.4 sexual partners per person. Other African nations such as Somalia (1.5), Sudan (1.6), Uganda (1.7), and Ethiopia (1.8) also report some of the lowest figures.
In the Middle East, cultural and religious norms contribute to lower averages, with Saudi Arabia (3.3), UAE (3.6), and Jordan (3.5) ranking among the bottom 20.
What influences sexual partner count?
Experts suggest that cultural attitudes, sexual openness, and dating norms play a significant role in these statistics. Countries with more liberal views on relationships and casual encounters, such as Turkey, Australia, and France, tend to report higher numbers. Meanwhile, nations with stronger religious or conservative influences typically have fewer reported partners.
As global perspectives on sex continue to evolve, future surveys may reveal shifting trends in sexual behavior across different regions.
