The Federal Government has launched a nationwide campaign for measles, polio, and HPV immunization, alongside interventions against other neglected tropical diseases.

The flag-off ceremony took place on Monday at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja. The campaign aims to eliminate measles in Nigeria by 2030 through strengthened routine immunisation, enhanced disease surveillance and outbreak response, integration of measles and rubella initiatives into primary healthcare, and the adoption of innovative health technologies.

According to health officials, about 16 million children are expected to be vaccinated during the exercise. The integrated campaign specifically targets children aged nine months to 14 years with the rubella vaccine.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, alongside representatives of international development partners and key stakeholders in the health sector.
