ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State Government has received 50 motorcycles and 3 pickup trucks donated by the Global Fund, in collaboration with the Federal Government, to enhance the fight against tuberculosis, leprosy, malaria, and HIV in the state.
The state governor, Mohammed Bago received the donations at the Government House, in Minna on Wednesday.
The donation includes three pickup trucks assigned to the Programme Officers overseeing Malaria, Tuberculosis/Leprosy, and HIV control efforts.
According to the governor, the 50 motorcycles will be distributed across the 25 local government areas, with each receiving two motorcycles to aid health field workers in reaching remote communities.

He stressed that the state is committed to improving health outcomes, particularly in combating malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV.
In addition to the vehicles, Governor Bago revealed that the Niger State Government has acquired drones to help deliver essential medical supplies to flood-prone and hard-to-reach areas.
The governor announced plans to train health workers in drone operation, with some receiving further training abroad to ensure effective use of the technology.
The governor also urged the beneficiaries of the donated vehicles and motorcycles to use them responsibly to serve the people and achieve the intended health goals.
He added that funds will be allocated to cover fuel costs for the vehicles to ensure consistent service delivery.
