Makoda Local Government Council in Kano State has procured drugs worth N2.5 million for distribution to children suffering from fever and persistent cough in some communities in the area.

The Information Officer of the council, Zainab Muhammad, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.

The statement said the intervention followed complaints from residents about health problems affecting children.

It added that the council chairman, Auwal Jibga, approved the funds to improve access to essential drugs and support healthcare for the affected children.

The council secretary, Bala Maitsidau, was leading the distribution exercise, which had commenced in Babbar Ruga and Maitsidau communities, according to the statement.

It added that the distribution team was visiting other affected communities to ensure that the drugs reached the intended beneficiaries.

The statement said the council chairman urged health personnel responsible for handling the drugs to ensure transparency and accountability.

The Head of the Local Government Health Department, Mas’ud Zayyan, urged parents, beneficiaries and health personnel to ensure that the drugs were administered in line with medical guidelines and instructions.
