ASHENEWS reports that the Kebbi state government has pledged to sustain its efforts at building the capacity of its healthcare service providers.
The Kebbi state deputy governor, Umar Abubakar stated this when he received some stakeholders in Nigeria’s health sector, including the Executive Director of National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaibu, WHO’s Country Representative, Dr. Walter Kazadi Mulombo and UNICEF team on an advocacy visit, on Friday in Birnin Kebbi.
Abubakar said that the present administration has identified the health sector as a key area in its development blueprint.
“Health is wealth and without good health, our children cannot go to schools, farmers cannot go farms, no businesses will strive health is the key to every aspect of human development,” Umar said.
He noted that the Kebbi state government would collaborate with all development partners in actualizing its agenda for the state’s health sector.
In his remarks, Executive Director of the NPHCDA, Dr. Faisal Shuaibu said that the entourage was in Kebbi ahead of the upcoming vaccination against cervical cancer.
Dr. Faisal commended the efforts of the present administration on health and infrastructure.
Similarly, WHO’s Country Representative, Dr. Walter Kazadi Mulombo charged the Kebbi state government to intensify efforts at achieving universal health coverage.
Mulombo commended the Kebbi state government for its effort on security which he said has led to the vaccination of about 190,000 children in security-challenged settlements in the state in the recently concluded outbreak response.
