The Kaduna State Commissioner for Health, Umma K. Ahmed, has praised the Kaduna Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transformation Services (IMPACT) Project for earning the position of best-performing state in the country.
Speaking at a one-day meeting of the IMPACT Steering Committee held at Bafra Hotel, Kaduna, the Commissioner—represented by the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Jonathan Gejare—said the milestone reflects the collective effort of all stakeholders. She added that the success would not have been possible without the steadfast support of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, whose investments in the health sector continue to reshape healthcare delivery in the state.
She highlighted improvements such as the recent salary increase for health workers, ongoing renovations and equipping of health facilities, and various upgrades across the healthcare system, describing them as clear evidence of the Governor’s commitment to the well being of Kaduna residents.
Professor Bello Ayuba, the State World Bank Focal Person, also spoke at the meeting. He explained that the IMPACT Project is a decade-long initiative structured into three phases, with the first phase (2020–2025) nearly completed. He noted that this phase has set a strong foundation for the remaining two phases, which will cover the final five years.
According to him, the theme of the meeting—“Reviewing Progress, Sustaining Impact and Celebrating Excellence”—captures the purpose of the gathering: to reflect on the journey so far, strengthen areas of progress, and recognize outstanding contributions. He encouraged participants to remain committed and continue supporting the state’s health agenda under the Sustained Agenda.
The Project Manager, Mr. Usman Garba, walked participants through a detailed presentation on the project’s achievements, the challenges encountered, and the strategies being put in place to address them.
A symbolic moment at the event was the presentation of an award to the Honorable Commissioner of Health, which was received on her behalf by Dr. Jonathan Gejare.
The meeting brought together officials from the Ministry of Health, sister MDAs, development partners, civil society groups, and faith-based organizations—reflecting a shared commitment to improving health outcomes for the people of Kaduna State.
