Niger state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello has disclosed how he spent two weeks in isolation, while recovering from COVID-19.
According to him, the duration was filled with reflection and reviews on many things and issues concerning his life and the future of the state.
Bello spoke to newsmen in Minna after an informal visit to the members of the Niger state House of Assembly.
“The two weeks in isolation have taught me a lesson; it taught me a lot. I used the two weeks to reflect on my life, for the good and bad things I have done. I have begged God for forgiveness.
“I also used two weeks to reflect on what is needed in Niger state. I used two weeks to review the sufferings of the ordinary man and woman in Niger state and how we can address it even if it is very difficult because it requires a lot of resources. I also used the two weeks to develop a plan for 2021,” he said.
He explained that he was also in the Assembly to discuss with the legislators how to move the state forward and to appeal with them to expedite action on the 2021 budget to enable us assent to it before January 2021.
The governor appealed to the people in the state to be careful and obey all COVID-19 safety measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
“COVID-19 is real. I want to appeal to everyone to take it very seriously and do what you can to protect yourself. If you are destined to contract COVID-19, no one can stop you but at least, try to protect yourself.”
He explained that he was in the Assembly on an informal visit to appreciate the legislators for their concern and show of support while he was in isolation.
He added that he had also tried to resolve some crucial matters, which the legislators were not comfortable with.
