Wamakko defends Gov Aliyu’s record, says development extends beyond Sokoto metropolis

Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has defended the performance of Governor Ahmad Aliyu, insisting that the administration’s development projects are spread across the state and not limited to the Sokoto metropolis as claimed by critics.

Speaking shortly after arriving in Sokoto from Abuja on Friday, where he was received by supporters at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport before proceeding to his residence in Gawon Nama, the former governor said the administration had delivered infrastructure and social projects in both urban and rural communities.

Wamakko said road construction projects had either been completed or were ongoing in several local government areas, including Tambuwal, Kware, Rabah, Gada, Dange Shuni, Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Silame, Gwadabawa, Illela, Bodinga, Wamakko, Binji and Shagari.

According to him, the projects, valued at billions of naira, demonstrate the government’s commitment to equitable development and contradict allegations that state resources are being concentrated in the capital city.

He added that the administration’s interventions extend beyond road infrastructure to education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply and other sectors aimed at improving residents’ welfare.

On security, the APC leader praised Governor Aliyu for what he described as unprecedented investment in strengthening security operations across the state.

He said the government had procured security vehicles, armoured vehicles, motorcycles, communication equipment and other operational assets worth billions of naira to enhance the capacity of security agencies in tackling insecurity.

Wamakko maintained that the level of support provided to security agencies reflects the administration’s determination to restore peace in communities affected by criminal activities.

He urged residents to continue supporting Governor Aliyu’s administration, saying sustained public backing would enable the government to consolidate on its achievements and accelerate development across the state.

The remarks were contained in a statement issued by the governor’s media aide, Bashar Abubakar.
