Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, will visit Benue on Tuesday under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). She will engage women, inaugurate key infrastructure projects, and open a community ICT centre.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Mr. Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Hyacinth Alia, the visit is part of a nationwide program aimed at empowering women, strengthening families, and improving the welfare of vulnerable groups.
During the visit, Mrs. Tinubu, also the National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, will interact with women and scheme beneficiaries to deepen grassroots impact across the state.
Gov. Alia described the visit as a positive demonstration of collaboration between the federal and Benue governments to enhance citizens’ welfare, especially women and families.
A major highlight will be the commissioning of 10 newly completed intra-city roads in Makurdi, part of over 45 roads constructed by the Alia administration.
These roads, totaling about 11.5 kilometers, are expected to improve mobility, stimulate economic activity, and enhance residents’ quality of life. They include Ishaya Bakut Road (Dual Carriageway), three spurs, Abu King Shuluwa Road, Mama Mbateren Alia Street, Dabo Plaza to Fashion Hub Road, Sir James Iorpuu Street, Tyagher Gbaa Street, and Jato-Aka Road.
The First Lady will also visit Ihugh to inaugurate and hand over a community ICT centre.
Ahead of the visit, Mrs. Scholastica Bensor, Benue Coordinator of the First Lady’s Office and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, said preparations had been finalized for a successful event.
She noted that women across the state were eager to welcome the First Lady and urged residents, community leaders, and support groups to attend in large numbers.
Bensor added that the visit would further support efforts to empower women and promote sustainable development in Benue.
