ASHENEWS reports that the Traditional Ruler of Kujama, Mr. Steven Ibrahim was on Sunday abducted by gun-wielding terrorists in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State.
The Monarch, it was learned, was abducted along with his two companions during a raid in the community.
A Community Leader, Samuel Bitrus Barde in a telephone conversation with our Reporter said that the terrorists came into the community around 6:30 pm.
“I came back late and my brother called me that terrorists kidnapped the district head. It was around 6:30 pm on Sunday when my brother called me”, he told ASHENEWS.
“I have two houses but so I was in another apartment. I heard a gunshot when they crossed the river”, he said.
Barde further said that the Army trailed the suspected terrorists but could not find them, adding that bandits may have contacted the victim’s family for ransom.
“Army entered the bush trying to search to find them before they went away. The terrorists didn’t shoot any gun when they kidnap him”, he said.
The Police Spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan was not available for comment. Also, text messages sent to his mobile line remained unanswered.
Residents of Chukun have been victims of previous attacks by terrorists. On 17th Oct 2023, 14 people were killed and 31 others were abducted in southern Kaduna
On 14th May 2022, similar attacks occurred in two communities of Chikun, killing one person and abducting 26 others.
On 5th July 2021, bandits stormed Chuku community, killing two people and kidnapped scores of Bethel students.
