The media team of Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has dismissed as false and misleading claims circulating in a viral video by American commentator Mac Arnold, warning against the spread of unverified narratives capable of fueling tension.
In a statement issued by Bashir Adefaka on Thursday, the Sultan’s media office said it had been drawn to recent video claims and remarks attributed to Arnold, which it described as “sensational and unsubstantiated,” and allegedly targeted at the person and office of the Sultan.
The statement noted that similar allegations suggesting any link between the Sultan and acts of violence or terrorism had surfaced in the past but were widely challenged and dismissed as divisive.
“We categorically state that these allegations are baseless, misleading, and unsupported by credible evidence,” the statement said.
The media team reaffirmed that the Sultan remains a widely respected religious and national figure known for promoting peaceful coexistence, interfaith dialogue, and unity within Nigeria and beyond.
While indicating that the Sultanate would not engage further with the claims, the statement urged the public and international community to verify information from credible sources and avoid amplifying content that could undermine social cohesion.
It also warned that any material deemed defamatory or capable of inciting discord would be subjected to legal review in accordance with Nigerian and international laws.
“The Sultanate remains committed to peace, justice, and the unity of Nigeria, and will continue to work with all stakeholders toward these enduring goals,” the statement added.
