Sultan Muhammadu Saad Abubakar and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, has paid glowing tribute to retired military officer and former Minister of Communications, Tajudeen Adeniyi Olanrewaju, on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
In a congratulatory message dated May 8, 2026, the Sultan described General Olanrewaju as a distinguished soldier, statesman, and patriot whose life has been marked by courage, discipline, and selfless service to Nigeria.
The revered monarch praised the retired Army officer for his contributions to national unity, stability, and development through various military assignments within and outside the country.
According to the Sultan, General Olanrewaju remained “a pillar of strength in times of trial and a guiding light in times of progress,” noting that his legacy of honour, sacrifice, and commitment to national service continues to inspire younger generations of Nigerians.
The Sultan said attaining the age of 80 was not only a celebration of longevity but also a recognition of a life dedicated to the greater good of the nation.
He prayed for continued good health, peace, and fulfilment for the elder statesman, expressing hope that the years ahead would bring him joy and satisfaction from the enduring impact of his service to humanity and the country.
General Olanrewaju, a respected retired military officer and former Minister of Communications, is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s notable public servants with decades of contributions to governance and national development.
