Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has said that state governments are now better funded under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a development he says has enabled them to execute projects and programmes that directly benefit citizens.
Aliyu made the remarks in Bodinga Local Government Area during the flag-off of the sale of food items at subsidized rates, an initiative designed to help rural dwellers and junior civil servants access essential commodities.
The governor said the increased federal allocation has allowed his administration to implement development projects, provide palliatives, and ensure prompt payment of workers’ salaries on the 18th of every month.
He urged residents of Sokoto State to disregard what he described as campaigns of calumny against President Tinubu and to support his re-election bid in 2027.
Aliyu commended the President’s economic policies, describing them as “one of the best things to have happened to Nigeria,” and pledged the full support of the Sokoto State Government for his re-election.
On security, the governor said his administration has continued to support security agencies, including the recent provision of 62 armoured vehicles, in addition to over 200 patrol vehicles and 2,000 motorcycles previously supplied to strengthen operations against banditry.
He called on residents to provide useful information to security agencies and to expose informants who supply bandits with intelligence on rural communities.
Aliyu also appealed to the people to continue praying for an end to insecurity in Sokoto State and across the country.
