The Deputy Director-General (Administration) of the Atiku Abubakar ADC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, Yusuf Suleiman has described the massive turnout of supporters on Wednesday in Sokoto, to welcome the party’s presidential candidate, as a strong indication of the growing support for the former vice president and the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Suleiman, in a statement he personally signed and issued on Friday, said the turnout during the launch of the ADC presidential campaign, which cut across age groups, with residents lining the streets, rooftops and roadsides to receive Atiku and other national leaders of the party, demonstrated that “Sokoto did not merely receive the Waziri. Sokoto embraced him.”
The campaign council official thanked the people of Sokoto State for the reception extended to Atiku, ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark; the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi; Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, Kashim Ibrahim Imam; Director-General, Senator Austin Akobundu; and other party leaders and supporters who attended the campaign flag-off.
He also commended traditional and religious leaders for their prayers, while praising women, youths and other residents for maintaining peace and order throughout the event.
Suleiman described the campaign flag-off as a “historic outing” and commended the Sokoto State campaign team, led by former governor and party leader, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
He also praised the ADC governorship candidate in the state, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, for participating in the event despite an attack on him at the Sokoto airport days earlier.
Other party officials, elected representatives, local government and ward leaders, volunteers and campaign support teams were also commended for their roles in organising the event.
According to Suleiman, the turnout was evidence of growing public demand for a government capable of addressing economic hardship, insecurity and national divisions.
“Sokoto has set the tone for the campaign ahead,” he said, adding that the ADC would take its campaign to other states of the federation.
He said the party remained confident that “the will of Nigerians will prevail” in the 2027 elections.
