ASHENEWS reports that the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago has directed traders operating on the Suleja-Madalla Highway to immediately relocate or be arrested.
Bago stated this when he paid an inspection visit to the area on Wednesday.
He said that the situation of the market on the highway was causing untold hardship to commuters hence the need to relocate the market to a safer place.
Although the state government was yet to decide on an alternative location, Bago said that the government will decide within the next few days on the preferred location to site the market.
He warned traders that his administration would not condone indiscipline on the part of Nigerlites, as it moves to bring sanity in the state.
“This market has become a nuisance to the entire people of niger state and Nigerians, commuting on this road every Thursday.
“In an attempt to create an ease of doing business, we have to make sure people are disciplined. I have directed that as my executive order two, this market is not closed but anybody found on this highway selling should be arrested. Any car parked here should be confiscated so we can bring sanity to this highway
“We want people to come to Niger and know that we are orderly people and we respect law and order.
“By tomorrow, we’ll identify the new market that is close here and we’ll relocate it in due course so that we use this place for another investment, “he said.
