Police arrest Islamic cleric, one other for raping 15-year old

The Ogun Police Command, have arrested an Arabic and Islamic teacher, Ismaila Saheed and one Toliba Sabith for having sexual intercourse with a 15 years old girl.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Monday, the Command Spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspects were arrested after the victim reported the matter at the Redeemed Camp Police station.

“The victim told Police officers that she was first raped by Toliha Sabith, on August 25th, 2020 at Imedu-Nla area of Mowe.

“She reported the incident to her Arabic and Islamic teacher, Saheed. The teacher then informed her that she may have become pregnant and would help her abort the pregnancy.

“However, unknown to the young girl, Saheed had a dubious plan to have his way with her, which he did, in the process, he inserted a sharp object into the private of the girl, causing her to bleed.

“Upon report, the DPO of Redeemed Camp Division, SP Bala Yakubu detailed his detectives to go after the two suspects and they were both apprehended on the 28th of August 2020. They have confessed to the commission of the crime,” the statement reads.

Oyeyemi also stated that the victim is currently admitted in a hospital and for medical attention.
