The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two women over alleged child trafficking and rescued three teenage girls in Yola.
The Command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Nguroje said officers of the State Intelligence Department acted on credible intelligence to intercept the minors at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park on February 17, 2026.
He said, “On 17th February, 2026, the operatives of the Command attached to State Intelligence Department (SID), acting on credible intelligence, intercepted three teenagers at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park. The teenagers were identified as Naomi Linus (14 years), Agnes Thomas (16 years), and Patience Justine (15 years).”
Nguroje added that preliminary investigations showed the girls were lured under false promises of employment.
He stated, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the minors were deceitfully brought to Yola and were in the process of being transported to Abuja under the pretext of securing employment for menial domestic work.”
The police identified the suspects as Hasiya Yuguda, 35, of the NEPA area in Jimeta, Yola North, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar, 40, of Wuro-Hausa in Yola South.
The spokesman further revealed that another suspect is assisting investigators.
He said, “Further investigation also implicated one Simon Boniface, 38 years from Bitakoyali, Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State. He is currently assisting the Police in the ongoing investigation.”
According to the police, the rescued teenagers remain in protective custody while efforts are ongoing to trace their families.
The Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankwambo, reiterated the Command’s stance against child trafficking and abuse.
He said, “Members of the public are encouraged to promptly report suspicious movements or activities involving minors to the nearest Police station.”
The development comes months after the Adamawa State Government reunited trafficked children with their families and warned parents against allowing minors to travel without proper supervision.
