At a time when rising costs are making higher education increasingly difficult for many families, more than 400 students across Nigeria have received scholarships and academic support from the Sani Bello Foundation under its 2025/2026 Scholarship and Academic Support Programme.
The Foundation announced the development in a press release signed by the DirectorGeneral, Dr Zachary Ikani, describing the intervention as part of its commitment to ensuring that financial challenges do not stand in the way of young Nigerians pursuing their academic dreams.
Beneficiaries of the programme were drawn from several tertiary institutions, including Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto; the Federal University of Technology, Minna; Federal University Birnin Kebbi; Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai; the Federal University of Education, Kontagora; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; nursing programmes and other higher institutions across the country.
According to the Foundation, the initiative is aimed at reducing the financial burden on students, promoting academic excellence and creating opportunities for deserving young people to complete their education without undue hardship.
The organisation said it remains convinced that education is one of the strongest drivers of personal growth, community advancement and national development, stressing that investments in young people are investments in Nigeria’s future.
Beyond scholarship awards, Ikani noted that it has consistently supported educational development through school infrastructure projects, learning resources and other interventions designed to improve educational outcomes.
He added that its educational programmes are part of a broader vision to build a society where every individual has access to opportunities needed to reach their full potential, regardless of their background.
The Foundation also reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing future leaders and professionals through sustained support for education, saying it would continue to create pathways for young Nigerians to succeed.
While congratulating the beneficiaries, it urged them to remain focused on their studies, embrace excellence and use the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the nation.
Established in 2010 by Col. Sani Bello (Rtd.), the Sani Bello Foundation is a non-profit organisation focused on education, healthcare, youth empowerment, community development and social welfare initiatives across Nigeria.
