The new executive emerged unopposed following the withdrawal of other contestants from the race.

Dalhatu Abdullahi of the Nigeria Television Authority, Sokoto, emerged as the new Chairman while Abbas Sanyinna from Rima Radio, became the Vice Chairman.

Also Muhammad Nasir-Bello, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), emerged as the new council secretary, while Aliyu Shuni of The Path Newspaper) became the new Treasurer.

Speaking at the ceremony, NUJ National President, Chris Isiguzo expressed appreciation for the sportsmanship and maturity of the members in the state for adopting a consensus option to elect the new leaders.

Isiguzo, represented by Mr Muhammad Umar, Vice President Zone A, thanked the NUJ members for the development.

“Your sportsmanship exhibition has made the work easy for all of us and identified how united the members are.

“As such, I urge you all to sustain the unity, commitment and support for the union leaders in order to continue to achieve our collective mandate,” he said.

Speaking, the state Commissioner of Information, Isa Bajini, commended the outgoing executives of the NUJ for their dedication and unity, while urging the new executives to emulate their predecessors.

“Today, we are witnessing a new regime of the state NUJ council that emerged unopposed, which has never happened in our history.

“This has become successful with the leadership style exhibited by the outgoing executives and the maturity of the members,’’ he said.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner of Finance, Abdussamad Dasuki commended journalists in the state for their active support to the development of the state.
