The Director General of Nigerian Textile Manufacturers Association (NTMA), Hamma Kwajaffa has commended the Biu Community Secondary School’s Old Students’ Association for a well attended Annual General Meeting (AGM).

He also congratulated the Emir of Biu, Mai Mustapha Umar II; the Emir of Akko, Umar Mohammed; Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Dr Mohammed Umar; the President, Prof. Mohammed Hassan and other executive council members for organising a successful 2nd AGM.

Kwajaffa, who joined the meeting via zoom called on all well-meaning old boys, to identify with Biu Community Secondary School (Senior Science Secondary School Biu), especially since the purpose of the meeting is for old students to come together.

“The main essence of the meeting was for the old students to come together and develop the school. We call on all the members, including a former Borno state governor, and currently a ranking Senator Kashim Shettima; Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd, Mele Kyari; Ahmed Kuru, Aliyu Galadima and host of others, to join hands with the Emirs of Biu and Akko in revitalising the school to its former enviable position in order to touch, positively on the lives of upcoming students,” he said.

The Emir of Akko, Gombe State, HRH Alhaji Umar Atiku Mohammed, 4th left, President, Prof Mohammed Hassan, 3rd left, Chairman Local Organising Committee, Dr Mohammed Isa Umar, 4th right and other Exco and general members of Biu Community Secondary School’s Old Students’ Association, during the 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the school at Madugu Hotel Gombe, on Saturday March 19, 2022.

Kwajaffa observed that the Emir of Akko, also a Patron, coordinated the event and provided leadership in a way that galvanised and implored all members to tickle their individual and collective responsibilities of assisting in rebuilding the school to regain its glorious status of academic excellence and social standing.

“Most attendees were happy with the reunion since some of them have not seen each other for the past 45 years.  The organisers were actually overwhelmed as they planned for 150 members but 215 members finally graced the occasion.  Next AGM has been fixed to hold in the school’s premises, Biu,” the DG said.

The Emir of Akko said if Dr Maikanti Bello could turn his Alma Matter, Government Secondary School Misau in Bauchi State to an enviable position, many Biu Old Boys could do better.

“We have had a good example of late former Group Managing Director (GMD) of NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Bello who turned around his Alma Matter, the Government Secondary School Misau in Bauchi State to an enviable position that it now looks like a university. Allah has blessed former students of Biu Community Secondary School to the fact that they can do more than that to be able to turn around the school to a modern standard in order to ease teaching and learning activities among teachers and students alike.”

The Emir particularly appealed to former Borno state governor, Senator Shettima to come to the aid of the school.

ASHENEWS reports that the constitution of the Association recognises the Emir of Biu as the Grand Patron supported by the Emir of Akko and other patrons, including the Principal of the school and the Borno State Governor.

Director General, Nigerian Textile Manufacturers Association (NTMA), Alhaji Hamma Kwajaffa, Member, Biu Community Secondary School’s Old Students Association, who joined the 2nd AGM via zoom, on Saturday March 19, 2022.

ASHENEWS also reports that the President of the Association, a professor of Nuclear Physics and Head of Department of Physics, University of Maiduguri, Muhammad Hassan led other members, including the Chairman Local Organising Committee chairman and former Gombe State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muhammad Umar; U.S-based Muhammad Kano, among others, to the AGM that held at the prestigious Madugu Hotel Gombe on Saturday  March 19, 2022.
